Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo has hinted the club could make a January bid for Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao, reports the Daily Star on Sunday.

The 26-year-old Colombian international is one of the most prolific forwards in all of Europe at the moment, following a scintillating La Liga and Europa League campaign last season.

Falcao has carried his fine form into 2012/13, leading to widespread speculation he could leave Spain for the Premier League, when the transfer window reopens in the New Year.

With a £45million buy-out clause written into his current contract, the Blues are considering a lucrative offer to bring him to Stamford Bridge.

"I am sure he has caught the eye of every top club in the world," said Di Matteo. "He is a good player."

The Italian was speaking after Chelsea's 2-1 victory over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, courtesy of goals in either half from Fernando Torres and Juan Mata.

The win leaves the west London club three points clear at the top of the Premier League table on 16 points after six games.
