Tottenham are ready to reappoint former Liverpool director of football strategy Damien Comolli, reports the Sunday Express.

The 39-year-old Frenchman is being lined up by Daniel Levy for a return to north London, four years after he was sacked at White Hart Lane.

After leaving Anfield by mutual consent in April, Comolli has been out of work, but was recently spotted at Spurs' training ground.

Responsible for the high-profile signings of Luka Modric, Gareth Bale and Dimitar Berbatov during his last stint at the club, it's not hard to see why Tottenham are considering an offer for Comolli.

Levy is searching for a technical director to work alongside manager Andre Villas-Boas, and the ex-Liverpool chief appears to be top of his shortlist.

Meanwhile, in the five months since Comolli was shown the door at Liverpool, the cost of his reign continues to cut the Merseyside club deep.

The financial mismanagement prior to Brendan Rodgers' arrival has forced the Reds boss to pay a heavy price in the transfer market, with little funds made available.
