Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen has heaped praise on club team-mate Luis Suarez, after the Uruguayan scored another hat-trick against Norwich City on his return to Carrow Road.

The South American striker became the first Reds player to bag back-to-back trebles on the same away ground in the emphatic 5-2 victory over the Canaries.

Suarez shone for Brendan Rodgers' side on Saturday, prompting summer signing Allen to hail the importance of Suarez, saying that he will be central to any success achieved at Anfield this season.

"It's a privilege to be able to play alongside Luis," Allen said. "I'm just grateful he's on my team. When you're out there playing alongside him you just have to be in awe of a performance like that.

"The goals, some of the things he did, not many people in world football can do. He's got everything you need to be a top-class striker and I'm excited about the season he's going to have for this team."

Prior to the impressive victory - Liverpool's first in the Premier League this season - Allen confirmed that Suarez's hat-trick last time out had been the talk of the dressing room.

"We mentioned before the game about the fact he got a hat-trick against them last season and the fans at Carrow Road must be happy to see the back of him."

The result leaves Norwich in the relegation zone with manager Chris Hughton still looking for his first win of the season, having drawn three of their six matches.
