Chelsea are reportedly ready to offer Real Madrid a massive €50million bid for defender Sergio Ramos in the January transfer window.

Spanish newspapers Sport and Mundo Deportivo both published reports claiming Ramos’ representatives have informed the Santiago Bernabeu hierarchy that Blues owner Roman Abramovich is willing to stump up the staggering sum to take him to Stamford Bridge.

They also claim Ramos is seriously considering his options after his relationship with boss Jose Mourinho became strained in recent weeks, culminating in the 26-year-old being dropped for the Champions League group game with Premier League champions Manchester City.

Los Merengues have endured a stuttering start to the defence of their league title, already sitting eight points behind rivals Barcelona, and Mourinho dropped Ramos in response to his poor form during the early weeks of the season.

The strain in their relationship could further be seen in the 4-1 win over Deprtivo la Coruna on Saturday, where the World Cup and European Championship winner could be seen wearing the jersey of team-mate Mesut Ozil under his own.

The German was withdrawn at half-time for Kaka, a significant move considering Mourinho has given a public warning to his midfielders to up their game or lose their places, and Ramos was reportedly ready to reveal it if he had scored.
