Liverpool midfielder Joe Cole is ready to make his latest comeback in the Reds' Europa League clash against Udinese on Thursday.
The 30-year-old has been out of action for the past six weeks after picking up a hamstring injury in the Anfield side’s Premier League opening day 3-0 defeat to West Bromwich Albion.
Cole had his first bit of football since suffering the injury in a reserve fixture against Fulham on Monday – the former Chelsea star played for an hour and scored the opener in a 3-0 victory.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has been putting his faith in the Merseysiders’ young stars in recent weeks, but he may be keen to utilise Cole and his extensive experience of playing at the top level.
The Reds have so far used the Europa League to rest some of their more prominent stars, but the Serie A side should pose more of a threat than Young Boys of Bern and so Cole’s experience may be valuable to Rodgers.
