Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo thinks Chelsea transfer target Falcao is the best striker in the world - and wouldn't swap him for Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Colombian forward has been identified as a possible Chelsea target for the past few months, and was believed to be earmarked as a potential replacement for Didier Drogba.

But Chelsea kept faith with Fernando Torres, although the Blues have been linked with a £45m move when the January transfer window opens.

And Atletico president Enrique Cerezo thinks Falcao, who signed for the La Liga side in 2011 as a replacement for Manchester City bound Sergio Aguero, is the best striker in the world.

"Falcao is the best striker in the world," said Cerezo. "That is not just my words, I refer to the evidence. Nor would I want to swap Falcao for Messi or Cristiano, Falcao is the best."

The Colombia international scored 24 goals in his first season at the Vicente Calderon, and has already hit seven in six league games this campaign.

In 2012, only Messi and Ronaldo have scored more goals than the Atletico Madrid frontman.

Falcao introduced himself to Chelsea fans who were yet to hear of him when he smashed a superb hat-trick past Roberto Di Matteo's side in this year's Super Cup final. Chelsea lost the match 4-1 against Atletico Madrid.

The former-Porto striker is capable of scoring all types of goals, and is arguably the best number nine in world football on current form.
