Newcastle United are amongst a number of top clubs being linked with a move for Manchester United starlet Joshua King.

Agent Jim Solbakken claims the 20-year-old Norwegian international is being coveted by a number of clubs, but is happy with life at the Red Devils for now despite failing to break into the first-team fold on a regular basis.

"I have discussed attacking options with Newcastle United. There are many clubs who are interested in Joshua King but he is where he should be," Solbakken told VG.

"He could have joined many clubs during the summer but got confidence in the Manchester United organisation."

King has spent spells on loan at Hull City, Borussia Monchengladbach and Preston North End during his short career, although injuries have been a constant thorn in the youngsters progression to-date.

Born in Oslo, King joined Manchester United from Valerenga in 2008, and despite failing to score goals on a regular basis whilst on loan, a first international call-up was forthcoming in 2012.

Having lost French starlet Paul Pogba to Juventus in the summer, it’s unclear as to whether Sir Alex Ferguson would be willing to let another young talent leave Manchester United however.

Newcastle United have been linked with a number of strikers in recent weeks, with Molde forward Jo Inge Berget – also a client of Solbakken – another claimed to be on the St. James’ Park radar.

Toon boss Alan Pardew doesn’t lack strikers on Tyneside, with Demba Ba, Papiss Demba Cisse and Shola Ameobi the main attacking threat on the club’s books.

But, with Ba’s agent happy to stoke the transfer fire, Newcastle United might be looking to add in the position in January, and King could well be an option as one for the future.
