Manchester United youngster Rafael has been voted the club's Player of the Month for September, after narrowly beating Paul Scholes to the award.
Rafael polled 48 percent of the vote via ManUtd.com after a month during which he delivered a number of starring performances and scored a stunning strike in United's defeat of Liverpool at Anfield.
The Brazilian's half-volley put Manchester United back on level terms after Steven Gerrard had given the Reds the lead, before Robin van Persie secured three points with a late penalty.
Van Persie can probably count himself unlucky not to be considered himself for the monthly award having scored four goals in September, including a hat-trick against Southampton.
The Dutch striker did not even the top four in the final standings, with Scholes attracting 44 percent of the public vote having once again enjoyed a solid month.
Midfielder Michael Carrick, who scored the winner against Galatasaray in the Champions League, and Rio Ferdinand shared the remainder of the votes.
