Hamburg will attempt to ward off Liverpool and other potential suitors of Son Heung-Min by offering the South Korean youngster a new contract.

Son continues to grow in stature at the Imtech Arena, having progressed into the first team two years ago, and has scored twice in six Bundesliga appearances for Thorsten Fink's side this season.

According to, the 20-year-old's recent form has led to interest from Liverpool, and Brendan Rodgers has been linked with making a €10.5 million to bring him to Anfield.

Hamburg, however, are intent in retaining the services of the Son and hope to give themselves some security in the transfer market by extending his current deal by another two years until 2016.

"The issue is to be completed before the end of the season," sporting director Frank Arnesen told Hamburger Morgenpost.

Son, meanwhile, has not become distracted by the rumours of a move to Liverpool, or any other club with greater stature, and is content with life in Hamburg and the prospect of extending his stay.

"I feel very comfortable here," he explained. "There is currently no reason for me to think about change."
