Borini not losing sleep over drought

Liverpool new-boy Fabio Borini insists his lack of goals is not worrying, and is confident he will soon be in prolific form for Brendan Rodgers' side.

The 21-year-old has scored just once in nine games since his £10.5million move from AS Roma to Anfield this summer, but he claims a similar thing happened to him last season in Serie A and he managed to turn that around.

His solitary strike came in the 3-0 defeat of Gomel in the Europa League qualification tie on his Anfield home debut – the inability to repeat this is not weighing him down though.

“It's just a matter of time for me, the same thing happened last season,” he is quoted as saying in The Guardian.

“I scored one goal before October, then got injured for three months and after that I scored my second goal in January. From January until March I scored eight goals.

“I know from past experience that the goals will come. In Swansea I scored six goals from March until May. The goals do come.”

Borini is expected to feature in Liverpool’s Europa League group stage clash with Italian side Udinese on Thursday evening and he will be hoping to get back on track in front of goal against a side he will know something about from last season.

Liverpool will be buoyed after getting their first league win of the season against Norwich City on Saturday.
