Arsenal have joined Manchester City and a growing pack of European clubs interested in signing Croatia right-back Sime Vrsaljko, reports talkSPORT.

The 20-year-old is widely regarded as one of his country's brightest young prospects, after being named 'Croatian Hope of the Year' in 2010, following in the footsteps of Niko Kranjcar and Luka Modric.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has been keeping tabs on the Dinamo Zagreb defender, but will have to act quickly if he wants to bring him to the Emirates Stadium, with a host of sides queuing up for his signature.

Vrsaljko has represented his country at several junior levels, before making his senior debut two years ago, and continues to make huge strides both domestically, and at international level.

Sampdoria, Valencia and Manchester City are all believed to be monitoring his progress, with a view to potential bids when the transfer window reopens in January.

Arsenal are well stocked on the right side of defence with Carl Jenkinson impressing this season and Bacary Sagna on his way back from injury.

However, with the Frenchman's long-term future in north London shrouded in doubt following his recent negative comments about the club's transfer policy, he could be sold with Vrsaljko brought in as a replacement.
