Chelsea are planning a move for highly-rated Sampdoria midfielder Roberto Soriano, reports talkSPORT.
The Italy U21 international began his career at Bayern Munich before joining the Serie A club in 2009, where he has established himself as an important anchorman in manager Ciro Ferrara's first-team.
Blues boss Roberto Di Matteo is an admirer of Soriano, and according to reports in his homeland, wants to bring him to Stamford Bridge.
He sent scouts to take a closer look at the defensive midfielder, along with his team-mates Pedeo Obiang and Nenad Krsticic in Sampdoria's 1-0 defeat against Napoli earlier this week, ahead of a prospective bid.
The Chelsea revolution looks set to continue under Roman Abramovich, who has tasked Di Matteo with revamping his ageing squad.
It's a process that has already seen the likes of Eden Hazard, Oscar and Victor Moses arrive in west London, as part of the club's bid to snap up the world's finest young prospects.
