Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is likely to make a number of changes to the side that lost 3-2 to Udinese in the Europa League on Thursday.

Pepe Reina will keep his position between the sticks for the Reds, but the four in-front could have a completely different look, with Martin Skrtel and Daniel Agger expected to replace Jamie Carragher and Sebastian Coates.

Glen Johnson is likely to switch to left-back, with the young Andre Wisdom tipped to return on the right flank for Liverpool at Anfield.

Nuri Sahin’s performance at Norwich should keep him in the starting places in the Premier League, with Steven Gerrard and Joe Allen helping to form a dynamic midfield three on Merseyside.

Stewart Downing is expected to miss out in the advanced positions for Liverpool, with Raheem Sterling on the right and either Fabio Borini or Suso on the left. Joe Cole is back in contention following injury.

That leaves Luis Suarez to lead the line for the Reds, with Dani Pacheco on the bench.

Liverpool predicted line-up v Stoke City:

Pepe Reina; Andre Wisdom, Daniel Agger, Martin Skrtel, Glen Johnson; Steven Gerrard, Joe Allen, Nuri Sahin; Raheem Sterling, Suso, Luis Suarez.
