Arsenal target Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa admits he is flattered to be linked to some of the world's biggest clubs, amid reported interest from Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan.

The 23-year-old has attracted admiring glances from a host of top European sides, but insists he remains focused on helping Montpellier climb the Ligue 1 table.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has been credited with an interest in signing Yanga-Mbiwa, having failed in an attempt to bring him to the Emirates Stadium in August.

And, according to Daily Mirror journalist, John Cross, Arsenal could be back in for the defender when the transfer window reopens in January.

"The one they came closest to was the French international [Mapou] Yanga-Mbiwa at Montpellier," he told BT Life's a Pitch. "I think he would still be their priority [in January]."

Barcelona are believed to be at the front of the queue for the player's signature, but the Montpellier captain is undistracted by speculation.

"I'm flattered to be linked with the biggest clubs in the world," he told Sky Sports. "But to be honest I'm thinking only about Montpellier.

"We need to show strength of character to come back to our level and win games."

Montpellier are currently down in 15th place in the Ligue 1 table with eight points, recording only two wins from their first eight games.
