Arsene Wenger has reportedly sent scouts to watch Atletico Madrid striker Adrian Lopez as he makes plans to bring goalscoring reinforcements to Arsenal in the January transfer window.

Lopez, a Spain international, has scored 15 goals in 59 games for Atletico during his time with the club and has seemingly attracted interest from the Gunners, while his clubmate Falcao has also been mentioned as a potential transfer target.

According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal representatives have followed Lopez extensively in recent times and the 24-year-old has emerged as an early candidate to move to the Emirates Stadium in the New Year.

Bolstering his Arsenal frontline will surely be a priority for Wenger in the next transfer period as the Gunners boss looks to further compensate for the departure of captain Robin van Persie to Manchester United during the summer.

Arsenal did sign Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud to spearhead their attack this season, but with Marouane Chamakh the only recognised striker in reserve, the Gunners look particularly short up top.

A move for Colombian star Falcao has been reported, although the Atletico Madrid star will surely be out of Arsenal's price range, while Spain striker Fernando Llorente has also been frequently linked with the Gunners.
