Tottenham are hoping to land Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Patrick Herrmann in January – but face competition from Inter Milan according to the Sun.
The 21-year-old has scored 10 goals in 56 games for Monchengaldbach, and has been tipped for a call up to the senior German side.
According to some sources Spurs had a bid turned down for Willian, a long term target for Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas, before the summer transfer window shut.
The Sun report today that Tottenham are willing to extend that search to the promising Herrmann, however the Lillywhites will face competition from Inter Milan.
The £7.5 million-rated youngster only made his Bundesliga debut two years ago and is seen as a replacement for Marco Reus, who left to join Borussia Dortmund over the summer.
Spurs are expected to spend big in January, with newspaper reports last week suggesting Villas-Boas will be handed a winter war-chest to improve his squad.
Joao Moutinho, Willian and Loic Remy have all been linked with a move to White Hart Lane in recent months, although it appears unlikely Spurs will be able to land Moutinho mid-way through the season.
Whether Tottenham can persuade Monchengladbach to sell one of their best young players as well also remains to be seen.
