Former-Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has said the Gareth Bale is 'on a par' with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Speaking to the BBC, Redknappy warned Croatia that they face a tough test when they come up against Bale and Chris Coleman's Wales team on Tuesday evening.

The Spurs star scored both goals as Wales came from behind to beat Scotland 2-1 on Friday night, and Redknapp, who coached Bale at Tottenham, believes the Welsh winger is a true world-class player.

"I've seen the best," said Redknapp. "I've seen Ronaldo; I've seen them all. He's on a par with them now.

"The only difference is they play for Barcelona with players like Messi. He's at Tottenham. Let me tell you, he will be at one of those clubs before too long. Those top teams - Barcelona and Real Madrid - will be fighting for his signature, for sure."

Bale has a contract with Spurs until 2015, but speculation has continually linked the 23-year-old with a move to La Liga. The Tottenham ace has scored all three of Wales' goals in 2012, and is the driving force behind Coleman's young Welsh side.

The Tottenham winger was named the PFA Players' Player of the Year in 2010-11, and the former-Southampton star has started this season in good form again.

Bale first came to European attention when he dismantled Inter Milan at the San Siro in 2010. The youngster took Maicon - the Brazil international and consensus best right-back in the world - apart that night, on his way to a memorable hat-trick.

Bale's two goals against Scotland handed Coleman his first win at Wales manager, and moved his country up to fourth in World Cup qualifying Group A.

Wales face Croatia on Tuesday night, and go level on points with the Balkan nation on seven points with a win.
