Mario Balotelli has hit back at claims made by Manchester City chief Brian Marwood that he is not a good role model by insisting he ‘doesn’t care’ what anyone says.

Marwood publicly criticised Balotelli last week, and said the Italian does not have the ‘right values and the right behaviour’.

The Manchester City striker has courted trouble since his 2010 switch to the Etihad Stadium from Inter Milan.

The controversial striker has repeatedly clashed with Citizens boss Roberto Mancini since he joined the club, with the former Inter coach once claiming he was ‘finished’ after Balotelli was sent of against Arsenal last season.

However Balotelli claims the pair share a special bond and, speaking after scoring in Italy’s 3-1 win over Denmark, he suggested he had little time for the opinion of Marwood or anyone else.

"I'm fine at Manchester City even though there are people who like to talk in the newspapers, instead of saying certain things to my face. I don't give a damn," he told Rai Sport.

Earlier today AC Milan confirmed they stood little chance of taking Balotelli back to Italy because the amount of money involved in a potential deal for the Man City striker.

After the win over Denmark came at the San Siro, Balotelli admitted it was special to be playing at his old stomping ground once more.

I felt shivers returning to San Siro," he said. "This is the most beautiful stadium. If it was full it would have been even better.

"With the national team and with Manchester City I'm getting better in terms of work-rate and commitment. I always try to be humble."
