Birmingham may be forced to sell some of their key players as they continue their search for a new owner – with talented youngsters Jack Butland and Nathan Redmond wanted by a host of Premier League clubs including Manchester United and Tottenham.

The Championship club are still in talks with a buyer, but reportedly fear they may have to sell some of their key assets in order to balance the books if negotiations fail.

Manchester United and Tottenham were linked with a move for Redmond last month, while previously Everton and Southampton have been reportedly interested in landing Jack Butland in the past.

18-year-old Redmond has been earmarked as one of the brightest young talents in English football and has represented the Three Lions at under-19 level.

He made 36 appearances for the Blues last season and featured in the Europa League, garnering praise for the high level of his performances.

The Sunday Mirror reported in September that Manchester United were monitoring the talented youngster, a course of action also taken by Spurs.

The Old Trafford club appear to have adopted a youth-first transfer policy in recent seasons, and have snapped up the likes of Nick Powell, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and David de Gea in recent seasons.

Spurs also appear more keen to place an emphasis on youth players with Andre Villas-Boas at the helm, with Steven Caulker, Andros Townsend and Jake Livermore all being given opportunities to shine at White Hart Lane this term.

Redmond, who operates primarily as a winger, could command a fee up to £12 million, although it is highly unlikely either Spurs or Manchester United will go that high for an untested youngster.

Butland meanwhile, did his reputation no harm after being called up for England’s Euro 2012 squad, and could secure a move to the top tier of English football in the new year.
