Drogba takes plaudits from Arsenal defender

Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny has heaped praise on former Chelsea hitman Didier Drogba, revealing he thinks the Ivorian is the best he's ever faced in the Premier League.

Drogba left Stamford Bridge in the summer after helping the Blues to an illusive Champions League trophy, scoring the winning penalty against Bayern Munich after an epic final at the Allianz Arena.

It was his performance against Barcelona in the semi-final which really caught the imagination of the French international defender though, and Koscielny is happy to admit that the former Blue could do just about anything both front-and-back to goal.

"He is strong, he is good when he plays with his back to goal, a great header of the ball and good in the gaps," Arsenal defender Koscielny told L'Equipe earlier in the week.

"He is the first defender, running everywhere. We saw against Barcelona last season. On his own, he crashed the Barcelona ship."

Didier Drogba had great success against the Gunners in the past, scoring plenty of goals on both the King's Road and at the Emirates Stadium when travelling to north London.

Koscielny would have been more than happy to see the back of Drogba when he left for Shanghai Shenhua, although financial issues in China could see the former Chelsea star leave sooner than the end of his two-and-a-half year contract.

What the future holds for Drogba remains to be seen, but Arsenal star Koscielny will be hoping he doesn't return to a pitch that he's on anytime soon.
