The seemingly inevitable departure of Luis Nani from Old Trafford during the January transfer window will reportedly hasten Manchester United to move for Porto starlet James Rodriguez.

Nani has been frequently linked with a move from Manchester United in the New Year and, according to Manchester Evening News, the Portuguese is set to be replaced by Rodriguez.

The Portuguese is a target for AC Milan and Juventus and, with a new Manchester United contract yet to be agreed, Nani could be set to end his five year association with the club.

But the exit of Nani looks set to prompt an exciting move by Sir Alex Ferguson, as he looks secure a deal for long-term target Rodriguez, who has been dubbed the 'new Cristiano Ronaldo'.

MEN reports that Manchester United are willing to sell Nani for around £15 million in the winter transfer window, with this cash likely to be used to fund a move for Rodriguez, 21.

The Colombian winger this week outlined his appreciation for Manchester United, although Ferguson may face a tough battle in keeping Rodriguez from the clutches of Real Madrid.
