An action-packed weekend saw plenty of drama as Premier League champions Manchester City snatched a late winner, with super-sub Edin Dzeko stealing the headlines.

The Bosnian capped a stunning counter-attack with a crisp finish as 10-man City came from behind to nick all three points from West Bromwich Albion.

But Dzeko's strike was just one of many fantastic finishes in the Premier League, as Chelsea and Manchester United both staged comebacks to finish the day as victors.

With another weekend of action in the books, and Champions League to look forward to this week, GMF looks back at the best goals…

Edin Dzeko - Manchester City v West Bromwich Albion

Two goals from the bench to follow his late leveller against Fulham and all of a sudden Dzeko has earned the complimentary, but personally frustrating, tag of Manchester City's super-sub.

Obviously he'd prefer to start, but Roberto Mancini will like his game-changing introductions more than his laboured play when the Bosnian is handed a starting berth.

Gary Cahill - Chelsea v Tottenham Hotspur

A superb volley from the England centre-back opened the scoring for Chelsea, as Roberto Di Matteo got one over on his old boss, Andre Villas-Boas.

Wayne Rooney - Manchester United v Stoke City

Three goals for Rooney but no hat-trick, as the England man cancelled out his early own goal with two strikes as United hit back to beat Stoke 4-2.

Rooney's first goal was a peach, a delicious cross from Robin Van Persie snaffled up by a grateful Rooney.

Emerson Boyce - Wigan v Swansea

The first, and probably the last time Boyce will find himself on this list. But what a goal from the Wigan right-back.

Inexplicibly finding himself in the Swansea penalty box, a shaky knock-down was back-heeled by Boyce over a shell-shocked keeper and a perplexed defender.

Only Zlatan Ibrahimovic would attempt something so extravagant. Boyce and Ibrahimovic - two peas in a pod.

Jermain Defoe - Tottenham v Chelsea

A real poachers effort from Defoe, as a mis-hit Aaron Lennon shot skewed across the box.

With Gary Cahill for company, Defoe reacted first, instinctively flicking the ball towards goal and beating Petr Cech at his near post.

Gonzalo Higuain - Real Madrid v Celta Vigo

A bonus effort from La Liga. Higuain opened the scoring for Jose Mourinho's side with a super strike, and a second-half Cristiano Ronaldo penalty handed Madrid a comfortable 2-0 victory. Did he mean it, almost certainly not, but it's still a great hit.
