Juventus will not pursue Manchester United winger Nani in the January transfer window as they prioritise the signing of a new forward, according to

The Portuguese playmaker is reportedly unsettled at Old Trafford, and a number of Serie 'A' clubs were thought to be interested in signing the United star when the transfer window reopens in January.

Juventus were reported to be leading the chase for Nani, along with Italian giants AC Milan, but it now seems the Turin-based club have pulled out of any bid for Nani, preferring instead to focus on recruiting a new striker.

The 25-year-old winger started against Braga in the Champions League on Tuesday, but is thought to have fallen out-of-favour at Old Trafford after complex contract negotiations over a new deal failed to reach a conclusion.

Nani's current Manchester United contract expires at the end of next season, and Juventus have reportedly decided to hold off on bidding for the midfielder with a view to possibly returning in the summer with a fresh offer.

The former-Sporting star joined Manchester United for €25.5m in 2007, but failed to flourish as expected following the departure of international compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid in 2009.

The Portuguese winger has found it difficult to make telling contributions this season, and has seen his first-team opportunities limited by the arrival of Shinji Kagawa and Robin Van Persie.

The Dutchman's arrival has resulted in Wayne Rooney or Danny Welbeck often being pushed out to the wide-left position previously occupied by Nani. reports Nani is now unlikely to leave Manchester United in January, but with Ashley Young set to return to full fitness in the coming weeks, the Portugal international could find his place under even greater threat.
