Chelsea are planning a fancy dress 'horror show' when they welcome Manchester United back to Stamford Bridge for the second time in the space of a week, in the Capital One Cup on Wednesday evening, reports the London Metro.

After Sunday's thrilling Premier League encounter, which ended with a controversial 3-2 victory for the visitors, the hosts are encouraging Blues fans to turn up in west London in Halloween attire.

Roberto Di Matteo will be desperate for revenge, as his Chelsea players look to get one over on their rivals, and book their place in the competition's quarter-finals, at the expense of Sir Alex Ferguson's side.

Fans are being urged to wear their scariest fancy dress costumes, in a bid to terrify the Manchester United players and help Chelsea secure an easy win.

"Wednesday night sees Chelsea take on Manchester United in the League Cup and it's sure to be a brilliant match, but it also happens to be Halloween – the spookiest night of the year," read a statement on the club's official website.

"We want all 'bridgekids' who have tickets for the game to come along early and wear their best Halloween outfits so that we can help scare the United players and help the Blues get a win.

"Get yourself dressed up – it's going to be FREAKY!"

Fernando Torres will be suspended after he was sent off after receiving two yellow cards at the weekend, and John Terry will serve the third of his four-game FA ban.
