Liverpool target only thinking of Arsenal meeting

Liverpool target Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has brushed off talk of a move to Anfield and insisted he is only interested in downing another of his Premier League suitors, Arsenal, this weekend.

The Dutchman has been in devastating scoring form over the past season and his contract with the Bundesliga side expires at the end of the season, which has led to reports of a possible January bid from Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers and Arsene Wenger at Emirates Stadium.

However, Huntelaar has insisted he is not getting preoccupied by rumours of a move to either side and will only concentrate on trying to defeat Arsenal for a second time in two weeks.

“I am not under any pressure because of the rumours about my future in the Premier League. My mission is to score goals and defeat Arsenal,” he is quoted as saying in the Daily Star.

The 29-year-old was on target two weeks ago at Emirates Stadium when Schalke left with a deserved 2-0 victory and Wenger’s side in disarray.

Liverpool are desperate for some goalscoring help for Luis Suarez and Huntelaar’s contract situation means it will be possible to get a striker that scored 48 goals in all competitions last season for a relatively low price.

Meanwhile, Arsenal will be desperate to nullify his threat as they attempt to move back to the top of Group B by getting a rare away win.
