Arsenal predicted line-up against Schalke: November 6

Arsenal could be without Theo Walcott when they take on Schalke at the Veltins-Arena this evening, with their Champions League participation shrouded in doubt.

If the Gunners lose to their Bundesliga opponents on Tuesday, then Arsene Wenger's side could be on the brink of elimination from the group stages for the first time in 13 campaigns.

A 2-0 defeat at the Emirates Stadium in the reverse fixture saw Arsenal surrender a 45-game unbeaten streak at home against continental opposition, leaving them placed second in Group B.

The Premier League side may only trail leaders Schalke by a point, but with just a three point advantage over third-placed Olympiakos - who host basement boys Montpellier - anything other than victory tonight, will make for a tense finish.

Aaron Ramsey will miss the encounter after picking up a groin injury during Saturday's defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford. The Welshman joins Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (hip), Gervinho (ankle), Kieran Gibbs (thigh), Abou Diaby (thigh), and Tomas Rosicky (hamstring), on the treatment table.

Wojciech Szczesny returned to first-team training on Monday, but did not travel with the squad to Germany.

Predicted starting XI:

Mannone; Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Vermaelen; Arteta, Wilshere, Cazorla; Podolski, Arshavin, Giroud.
