Celtic star plans to 'ruin' Lionel Messi's baby party

Barcelona's Lionel Messi will hope to mark the birth of his first son with a goal and a win against Celtic in Glasgow on Wednesday night, but one Hoops star plans to 'ruin his party' at Parkhead.

Messi's partner Antonella Roccuzzo gave birth to Thiago last Friday and the Barcelona superstar had hoped to celebrate the event with a goal in the weekend encounter with Celta Vigo.

Messi was ready to show his love for Thiago should he score a goal - the Argentine was pictured with a dummy stuffed down his sock - but was unable to find the net as Barcelona triumphed 3-1 at the Camp Nou.

The 25-year-old now has the chance to pay tribute to his new son in the Champions League against Celtic, although Efe Ambrose is confident Neil Lennon's side can keep Messi and Barcelona quiet.

“First of all I will tell Messi congratulations," he told the Daily Record. "It’s a great thing to become a father but I believe we are going to ruin his party in Glasgow."

Celtic suffered heartbreak at the Camp Nou in the last meeting between the sides two weeks ago, as Jordi Alba scored with virtually the final kick of the game to snatch a 2-1 victory for Barcelona.

The Bhoys are second in Group G and three points against Barcelona would go some way to securing progression into the knockout stages of this season's Champions League.

And Ambrose believes Celtic are capable of claiming at least a point from the three-time European champions.

“Yes, Barcelona’s tradition is to keep possession of the ball no matter where they are playing," he added.

“But the most important thing is we know how they play. We did well against them in Spain, and we will make them fight for their possession.

"That’s where our strengths lie and we will give everything we have to ensure we don’t lose and we get at least a point.”
