Manchester United predicted line-up against Braga: November 7

Manchester United midfield duo Darren Fletcher and Paul Scholes were left out of Sir Alex Ferguson's travelling party for Wednesday night's Champions League clash against Braga in Portugal.

Fletcher missed the section of training that was open to cameras at Carrington yesterday, and although Scholes did take part, he was also omitted from the 18-man squad, joining Phil Jones, Shinji Kagawa, and Nemanja Vidic on the Old Trafford treatment table.

Nick Powell sat out on Tuesday morning, but was included alongside Chris Smalling in the Red Devils list, as the defender edges closer to a return from the broken metatarsal that has so far prevented him from featuring in 2012/13.

Victory tonight will confirm United's place in the last-16 with two games to spare, following wins over Galatasaray, Cluj, and Braga in the 3-2 reverse fixture success at Old Trafford.

However, the Portuguese club's home record against English clubs is impressive, so it is unlikely to be a straightforward assignment. Add to that, the fact that Braga still have a chance of qualification themselves - in what looks like a three-way fight for second place - and Manchester United's players will need to be at their best to secure qualification.

Predicted Manchester United starting XI:

De Gea; Rafael, Ferdinand, Evans, Evra; Anderson, Carrick; Giggs, Rooney, Young, Hernandez.
