Liverpool scouts were reportedly in attendance at the GelreDome on Sunday to catch a glimpse of Vitesse striker Wilfried Bony as Brendan Rodgers makes plans for the January transfer window.

Bony is the top scorer in the Eredivisie this season with 12 goals in 12 appearances and the Ivorian is reported to have caught the attention of Liverpool, with Rodgers keen to reinforce his Anfield strikeforce.

Luis Suarez is the only fit senior striker currently available to Liverpool, with summer acquisition Fabio Borini sidelined through injury, while Dirk Kuyt and Andy Carroll left Anfield before the August transfer deadline.

Rodgers' search for a new striker has reportedly now led the Liverpool manager to Bony with the recruitment of at least one new forward surely a transfer window priority for the Reds.

According to De Telegraaf, Rodgers posted representatives to watch Bony in action against Twente, although the 23-year-old was failed to score and picked up a booking in a 0-0 draw.

Liverpool are reported to have sent the heaviest delegation to the Netherlands to watch Bony, with the club previously having a good track record of recruitment from the Eredivisie.

Dirk Kuyt and Luis Suarez both cut their teeth in the Netherlands before earning high-profile moves to Liverpool, and Bony could perhaps be the next in line to move to Anfield.
