Arsenal reportedly considered making a formal approach for Hugo Lloris during the summer transfer window, prior to the French goalkeeper's move from Lyon to Tottenham in August.

Lloris moved to Tottenham on transfer deadline day but, it would seem, may have been presented with the opportunity to move to the Emirates Stadium instead of White Hart Lane.

According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger posted scouts to extensively watch Lloris last season when it became clear that Lyon were prepared to let the France captain leave in the summer.

Arsenal were reported to be considering a formal approach for the 25-year-old, but the Gunners were eventually put off Lyon's asking price for Lloris, while Wenger was not entirely sure the 'keeper would cope with the Premier League.

Lloris joined Spurs for a reported fee of €10 million but has yet to dislodge Brad Friedel as the club's No.1, despite the American's advanced years.

Andre Villas-Boas has stared with Friedel in ten of Tottenham's 11 Premier League games this season, while Lloris has been mainly limited to cup appearances, and is know reported to be questioning his future.
