Gareth Bale says he is chomping at the bit to secure victory for Tottenham over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

Spurs go into the north London derby desperate for victory, not only for bragging rights, but also to halt a slump in form which has seen them record defeats in three of their last four league outings.

Arsenal go into the game in only slightly better shape having failed to win any of their last three games in all competitions. They also trail their rivals by one point in the Premier League.

After their recent run of poor form, Bale says the hotly-anticipated encounter against Arsneal has come at just the right time for Spurs.

"It’s almost the perfect situation," the winger told

"All form goes out of the window in the derby; we’ll go out there to play for the fans and try to go out for a victory.

"You step onto the pitch and feel the atmosphere around you. It’s a great day and hopefully we’ll come out on top. The lads concentrate on the game and try to treat it as just another game, but we know how important it is for the fans."

The Welshman has tasted success in the north London derby away from home before, finding the back of the net in Tottenham's dramatic 3-2 win over the Gunners in 2010. He also played his part in Tottenham's 2-1 home win over Arsenal last term.

"If you score a goal, the noise and energy around the stadium gives you a lift and keeps you going. I did it before and I'm looking to trying to do the same again."
