Fernando Torres treatment causing Chelsea rift

A rift is developing in the Chelsea dressing room over the special treatment being received by misfiring striker Fernando Torres.

According to the Daily Star, other Stamford Bridge stars are tired of the Spaniard being given countless chances by Blues owner Roman Abramovich, despite being in poor form for some time.

The report claims Torres has now become something of an outcast at Chelsea and Roberto di Matteo dropping him for the dismal 3-0 loss to Juventus in the Champions League last week, is one of the reasons for the Italian’s dismissal.

It also says there are suspicions among Chelsea players that new interim manager Rafael Benitez was hired in the hope he could coax Torres’s best form out of him once more, after doing so when both were at Liverpool.

It appears Blues fans may have to wait a bit longer to see the old Torres, as he was ineffective once more in the 0-0 draw with Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday.

The 28-year-old didn’t see much of the ball in what was a dull game, but still played the full 90-minutes.
