David Beckham departed LA Galaxy on Saturday night a two-time MLS Cup winner following his side's 3-1 defeat of Houston Dynamo at the Home Depot Center, which ensured they won the competition for the second successive season.

Houston took the lead via Calen Carr and lead going into the half-time interval, before Omar Gonzalez drew LA Galaxy level and Landon Donovan edged them in front from the penalty spot.

Robbie Keane secured victory for the Galaxy wiht another spot-kick in stoppage time, before Beckham was substituted by Bruce Arena to give the former England captain the opportunity to take the applause of the crowd one final time.

Beckham received a standing ovation as he strode off the pitch; embracing teammates and opponents as he ended his five-and-a-half year stint in Los Angeles on a high.

The former Manchester United and Real Madrid star enjoyed the celebrations draped in a Union flag and will now leave LA Galaxy for one final challenge before he retires.

"I am sad that this is the end," said Beckham to reporters after the game.

"This is a very special place for me and it will continue to be. I am happy to have been part of this club for six years and I am grateful to have been successful for the last four years.

"I may not play here anymore but I remain just as committed to growing this club, this league and this sport."
