Chelsea knock back Avram Grant talk

Chelsea have denied the club are planning to bring back former manager Avram Grant in a bid to save the club from the turmoil they are currently in.

Reports emerged on Monday morning claiming Stamford Bridge owner Roman Abramovich was set to offer a role to Grant, in the hope that he could help current interim manager Rafael Benitez to turn around the poor form that has seen them fail to win a Premier League game in seven.

However, a report from talkSPORT claims a source at the Champions League holders have dismissed the story out of hands, saying there is ‘no truth’ in it.

The stories appeared in light of Chelsea’s 3-1 defeat at West Ham early on Saturday afternoon, where they threw away a half-time lead to be overpowered by Sam Allardyce’s men.

Benitez was not a popular choice among Blues fans, due to his rivalry with the club during his time as Liverpool manager, and the failure to win any of the three matches he has taken charge, where they have scored just one goal, has not done a lot to improve relations.

Chelsea were booed off by their fans after the defeat at Upton Park and now are only hanging on to third in the Premier League because of goal difference.
