Manchester United are monitoring the progress of Vegard Forren ahead of the January transfer window, reports the Daily Express.

The 24-year-old Molde defender has attracted widespread interest from the Premier League, with Fulham and Everton both also considering bids to sign him.

Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson is keen to shore up his leaky defence by bringing the highly rated Norwegian international to Old Trafford, but faces a fight to secure the talented stopper's in-demand signature.

"There is still a big interest for Vegard and other Molde players," his agent Jim Solbakken told Norwegian paper Romsdal Budstikke.

"Vegard is keen to get a new challenge, but at the same time he is happy at Molde."

Under the tutelage of Manchester United legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Molde have won back-to-back league titles, whilst entertaining their fans with an exciting brand of football.

The Premier League giants have built up strong relations in the past with the Norwegian champions, ever since they landed super-sub Solskjaer in 1996.

And, with no return to action yet confirmed for club captain Nemanja Vidic - who remains sidelined through injury - Ferguson is ready to raid Molde again, for Forren when the transfer window reopens in the New Year.
