Chelsea are reportedly looking to add some further Brazilian flair to the Stamford Bridge squad and will bid for Bernard Anício Caldeira Duarte.

Better known as Bernard, the 20-year-old plays for Brazilian club Atletico Mineiro and is being compared with current Chelsea star Oscar, according to The Express.

The report claims Roman Abramovich’s officials are considering a bid for the attacking midfielder in the hope of beating rival European clubs to the signing of a highly-rated youngster.

New interim manager Rafael Benitez already has a raft of Brazilian internationals at his disposal, with Ramires, David Luiz and Lucas Piazon there along with Oscar.

Whether Chelsea need another diminutive attacking midfielder is another thing, but Bernard is able to play in wide positions as well as centrally and he has lighting pace.

Blues owner Abramovich spent a significant amount of money on playersd of Bernard’s ilk in the summer, with the lieks of Oscar, Eden Hazard, Victor Moses and Marko Marin.

Bernard has spent the entirety of his career with Atletico Mineiro and made his senior international debut in Brazil’s win over Argentina last week.
