Andre Villas-Boas, one of the nine managers to have been fired by Roman Abramovich during the Russian's nine years in charge of Chelsea, has hit out at the sacking of Roberto di Matteo yesterday.
Villas-Boas, now Tottenham manager, was let go by Abramovich in March this year having taken over the previous summer.
The former Porto coach lasted just 256 days in the hot seat at Stamford Bridge, 6 days less than the man who took over from him and guided the club to Champions League and FA Cup glory last term.
Di Matteo was sacked yesterday having overseen just two wins in Chelsea's last eight games, a poor run which culminated in the 3-0 defeat against Juventus in the Champions League which leaves their chances of qualifying for the next stage hanging by a thread.
Upon being unveiled as Spurs boss over the summer, Villas-Boas hit out at Abramovich and Chelsea for 'abandoning' him while he was in the proccess of remoulding the Blues' ageing squad - and now the 35-year-old has criticised his former employers once more by claiming that Di Matteo's departure is 'just another day in the office' for the Stamford Bridge-based club.
At Chelsea, I think another sacking is just like any other day at the office," he said ahead of Tottenham's Europa League showdown against Lazio this evening.
He added: "Most of the managers that have recently left that club have moved on."
‘We are grateful for having been through that club and through that experience. Now all of us are in different situations with different clubs moving on with our careers.’
Villas-Boas will be hoping for a result against Lazio this evening as Spurs go in search of cementing their place in the next round of the Europa LEague.
Tottenham sit in second in Group J, two points behind Lazio with two games to go. The build up to the game has been overshadowed by an incident in which two Spurs fans were seriously hurt and hospitalised after an attack at a pub in Rome last night.
