Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi will take on Atletico Madrid this weekend wearing a pair of boots designed by one lucky fan.

The Argentinian forward will don a pair of Adidas adizero F50s designed by Javier Pascual Mullor for the match on Sunday night after Mullor was chosen from 14,200 entries on Messi's own Facebook page.

The customised boots include references to Messi's new-born son, Thiago, the Argentinian flag, and a three-colour red, black and white tone.

The chosen boot also include a 'running white' upper, with black outsole and laces, and a bright red heel, tongue and Adidas three-stripe logo.

The Daily Mail also report Mullor's final design has the Messi Icon logo and 'Leo 10' on one side, while 'Thiago' on the other.

The Daily Mail quotes Messi saying: "I am happy with the miadidas boots and want to congratulate Javier on designing the winning ones that I will wear Sunday against Atletico Madrid.

"I also want to thank everyone who sent in their designs, they were all really good!"

Messi will look to extend Barcelona's advantage at the top of La Liga with three points against second-placed Atletico Madrid this weekend.

The top-of-the-table clash is being billed as a battle between Messi and Falcao, the Colombian international sensation who sits second behind Messi in the race for the Pichichi, the Spanish equivalent of the race for the Golden Boot.
