Solskjaer confirms 'many enquiries' for Manchester United defender target

Ex-Manchester United striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admits he expects interest in Molde defender Vegard Forren – but denied that any bids have been made for the player at this stage.

The 24-year-old centre back has been linked with a move to the Red Devils, with Premier League rivals Everton and Fulham also said to be interested. SkySports goes on to report that Toffees boss David Moyes has made a personal trip to watch the Norway star in action.

However, ‘the baby-faced assassin’ insists his club are under no pressure to sell the player, with no financial restrictions on the back-to-back Tippeligaen champions.

"We haven't received any offer for Vegard. But there are many who have enquired about Vegard. I am expecting that we might receive an offer in January,” Solskjaer told Romsdals Budstikke.

"Either we get good offers for Vegard when the transfer window opens or we will be happy to keep him in Molde. We are not depending on player sales for financial reasons."

Forren isn’t the only player wanted from the Norwegian champions either, with Solskjaer admitting that an unnamed foreign club have already bid for another player within the club’s ranks.

"We have received one offer from a foreign club for one of our players, but it is not interesting for either the player or MFK."

Forren was first linked with a move to Old Trafford in October, and Solskjaer admitted at the time that his player was capable of playing for the Red Devils in the Premier League.

"Yes, he could play for Manchester United, but I don't have to tell him that. At his best he is a very good footballer," he told TV2.

It’s unclear how much Sir Alex Ferguson would have to pay to bring the player to Manchester United, but Forren would compete alongside the likes of Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic and Jonny Evans if he were to make the switch in the New Year.
