Nicolas Anelka has warned Chelsea bosses he will not settle for anything other than a central striking role next season.

The France international moved to the Blues from Bolton for £15million in January but he has often had to settle for either a place on the bench or a starting berth on the wing since his arrival.

"I didn´t come here to play on the left or right," he told L´Equipe. "When I came here, people told me I would play in a 4-4-2. In England, I no longer need to prove that I am better through the middle."
