Sir Alex Ferguson ordered his Manchester United players to take some much-needed R&R after finding themselves on the wrong end of an "unfair" fixture schedule ahead of Saturday´s clash with Chelsea.

United did not return to Manchester following their Champions League draw in Barcelona on Wednesday, instead opting to stay in Catalonia and fly to London on Thursday night ahead of a training session on Friday.

The Blues contested their Champions League semi-final against Liverpool on Tuesday giving them an extra 24 hours rest and Ferguson said: "The fixture is not fair in terms of the timing between the two games."
