Football News
Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has revealed the club considered making a bid for former Kop hero Michael Owen last summer before instead opting to buy Fernando Torres.

Owen was a fans´ favourite having progressed through the ranks at Anfield but left to join Real Madrid in 2004. The England striker has since joined Newcastle, where injuries and form have limited his impact, while Spain forward Torres has flourished since joining Liverpool from Atletico Madrid for around £26million.

And Benitez revealed: "We had a list of 10 strikers last summer. We decided two or three were the priority and the first option was Torres because he was young and could be a good player and it would also be good business for the club.
