West Ham have appealed against the red card shown to Lee Bowyer in Saturday´s Barclays Premier League clash with Birmingham.

Referee Mark Clattenburg issued a straight red to the former Leeds midfielder for an alleged two-footed challenge on Blues captain Damien Johnson, two minutes from the end of the 1-1 draw at Upton Park.

Hammers manager Alan Curbishley revealed his unhappiness with Clattenburg´s decision after the game and the London club lodged their appeal to the Football Association before Monday´s noon deadline.
