Portsmouth are making no comment on suggestions of a move by Barclays Premier League rivals Manchester City to sign Zimbabwe striker Benjani Mwaruwari.

But unconfirmed reports that their top scorer has undergone a medical at Eastlands has brought renewed speculation that manager Harry Redknapp is on the verge of bringing Tottenham´s Jermaine Defoe to Fratton Park.
