Didier Deschamps has described the prospect of succeeding Sam Allardyce in the Newcastle hotseat as "an exciting challenge".

France´s 1998 World Cup-winning captain has emerged as one of the frontrunners to take over at St James´ Park following Sam Allardyce´s sacking and revealed he would leap at the chance to tackle one of the toughest jobs in English football.

"I have had no official approach from Newcastle but I am flattered to be linked with such speculation," Deschamps told The Daily Telegraph.
