Joleon Lescott scored a comical own goal to hand Chelsea a 2-1 victory in Tuesday night´s Carling Cup semi-final first leg clash with Everton.

Lescott, under pressure from Shaun Wright-Phillips, nodded the ball into his own net two minutes into injury time.

Ayegbeni Yakubu appeared to have secured a draw when he struck a superb second-half equaliser but Lescott pounced at the death to hand Chelsea the initiative in the tie. Wright-Phillips had earlier fired Chelsea into a first half lead with a magnificent strike that will have impressed England boss Fabio Capello, who was watching from the stands.
