Scotland are set to have a new manager in place by the end of January.

Former boss Alex McLeish quit on November 27 to take charge at Birmingham and Scottish Football Association chief executive Gordon Smith has had over a month to evaluate the potential contenders for the post.

SFA president George Peat told The Sun: "We are into January now and we want the matter resolved by the end of this month.
