Jewell wants players to toughen up

Football News
Derby boss Paul Jewell has demanded his players start toughening up mentally if they are to have any chance of saving their season.

Although Derby have only taken a point from Jewell´s first five matches in charge, they have at least rid themselves of the tag of Premier League whipping-boys.

"We lost to Sunderland with the last kick of the game, conceded in the last five minutes against Newcastle, and then the 90th against Liverpool," reflected Jewell. "That tells you the story that when you are on a losing run like we´ve been on, you almost get frightened of winning."
