Manchester United´s latest signing Manucho Goncalves insists he is ready to "defend the jersey" of the Old Trafford club despite admitting to an acute case of nerves when he first linked up with his new team-mates.

Manucho, 24, will link up with United in February after representing Angola at the African Nations Cup provided United can obtain a work permit.

"I felt overawed when Sir Alex Ferguson introduced me to Sir Bobby Charlton and said that I was a good boy and I was going to sign for the club," the former Petro Atletico de Luanda striker told PA Sport.
