Derby captain Matt Oakley would love nothing more than to emerge from "the hole" he finds himself constantly hiding in due to the club´s wretched season.

With the Rams rooted to the foot of the Barclays Premier League and now cut adrift by seven points, Oakley has not had much cause to enjoy life these past few months as he admits on field issues affect his off field activities.

He said: "It´s fair to say life isn´t normal, and I find it hard because I live in and around Derby. For instance, if I had planned to go for dinner with my family, and we had just been heavily beaten then I won´t go out. I stay in."
